BIZCLAIM guide
How to keep track of class action settlement claim deadlines
When a class action settles, the notice sets a deadline for claims. Missing it usually means missing out, so a simple list is worth keeping.
Filing a claim is free
The official settlement website and administrator named in the court-approved notice do not charge you to file. Be careful with any site that asks for a fee to file for you, and check the web address against the notice.
Write down five things for each settlement
- The settlement name, exactly as in the notice.
- The claim deadline.
- The official claim website.
- What proof the notice asks for, if any.
- Your confirmation number once you have filed.
Use the notice, not an advertisement
Take the details from the notice you received or from the court documents. Lookalike sites copy real settlement names.
Whether you qualify is the notice's call
The notice defines who is in the class. A tracker cannot decide that for you. Read the eligibility section before you file.
Expect no promised amount
Payments depend on the court's approval and on how many people claim, and final amounts can differ from early estimates. Plan around the deadline, not a figure.
Common questions
How do I know a settlement website is real?
Compare its address with the one printed in the notice you received or in the court-approved documents. Be cautious of look-alike addresses.
Do I have to pay to file a claim?
Filing with the official administrator is free. The BIZCLAIM tools help you organise dates and papers. They do not file for you and do not promise a payout.
